The arrival of your baby beings with it a whole new way of life physically, emotionally, and practically. The postnatal period is a time of adjustment, healing, learning, and bonding, and you deserve to feel nurtured and supported as you find your rhythm as a family.
My postnatal doula support is designed to offer calm, personalised, in-home care during the early weeks after birth, so you don’t have to navigate this time alone. Whether you need practical hands-on support, emotional reassurance, or simply someone to hold space for you while you rest and recover, this support is centred entirely around you and your baby.
Throughout our time together, I promise to listen, offer reassurance when things feel overwhelming, share gentle guidance if you ask for it, and support you in a way that feels right for you and your new family.
What postnatal support can include
Postnatal support is booked by the hour and tailored completely to your needs on the day. Each visit is flexible, responsive, and led by what feels most supportive for you and your baby in that moment.
Support may include:
• Emotional support as you adjust to life with your baby
• Space to talk through your birth or early postnatal experiences if you wish
• Practical support with newborn care
• Feeding support (breastfeeding, bottle feeding, or combination feeding — always non-judgemental and parent-led)
• Supporting rest and recovery for the birthing parent
• Light household tasks to help ease the mental load
• Caring for your baby while you shower, nap, or eat
• Reassurance around normal newborn behaviour
• Support for partners and the wider family as they settle into new roles
You are never expected to host, perform, or “know what to do” — this time is about being supported.
Availability & Pricing
Postnatal doula support is £38 per hour.
Sessions are available Monday to Friday, 10am–2pm, with a minimum booking of 3 hours and a maximum of 5 hours per visit.
If you are looking for support outside of these times, this may be possible by prior arrangement, subject to availability — please feel free to get in touch to discuss your needs.
Experience & qualifications
I share with you my experience of being a new mother twice over, as well as blending a family. Added to that extensive experience as a former nursery owner and family support worker, I bring a deep understanding of infant development, family dynamics, and the emotional needs of both babies and parents during the early weeks.
I am also DBS checked, offering reassurance that your family and home are supported by a trusted professional.
Continuity & Ongoing Support
One of the most valuable aspects of postnatal doula care is continuity. You’ll be supported by a familiar, calm presence who gets to know you, your baby, and your family, helping you build confidence in your own instincts as you settle into parenthood.
Whether you’re seeking practical help, emotional reassurance, feeding support, space to rest, or simply someone to walk alongside you during this transition, postnatal doula support is here to make sure you have the right support for you at the right time, from the comfort of your own home.
If you’d like to explore whether I’m the right fit for your family, please email robyn@thevillagemidwife.co.uk, and we can arrange a time to chat.
